Svaraveda ® Trust is a non profit organization is dedicated to Music therapy courses, research and consultancy, integrating biorhythm theory of Svaraveda and Ayurveda with Yoga Vignana.

  • Svaraveda offers several courses for learning and using music as a therapeutic tool, ranging from basic to advanced levels.

  • Svaraveda offers music and Yoga classes combined helping children with their physical development, behavior, and cognitive abilities, such as memory, concentration, and creativity.

  • Help individuals in healing themselves in times of stress, even while at work, by appreciating ancient knowledge of Svaraveda and connecting to nature.

  • To promote music as well as music therapy through concerts, workshops, and other public events, and provide opportunities for traditional and contemporary musical expression.

  • To promote the highest levels of human aspiration and artistic integration through the composition, documentation, and performance of music as a therapy.

  • Publish research articles in peer reviewed journals

  • Compose Music for the purpose of healing common ailments.

  • Provides consultancy services for healing through Yoga and music combined.

Dr. Karuna Nagarajan, is trained in Carnatic and Hindustani Classical Music. Basically a B.Com graduate and a MBA graduate quit her job in USA for reconnoitering her passion towards Mind Body Medicine after meeting Dr Nagaratna, a pioneer in Yoga therapy. The indication of exploring in the field of Yoga and Music therapy was far from her mind until she met Dr. Nagaratna, a leading Doctor who has helped lot of patients and published her work in well-known international journals on Yoga. The Doctor encouraged her to take up Masters in Yoga. She was awarded for the Best MSc dissertation ‘Spectral Analysis of Gamaka Notes of Carnatic Music published in Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge under the able guidance of Prof. NVC Swamy, who was the retired  director of IIT Chennai.  And also was awarded doctoral degree in 2016 under the able guidance  of Prof. Srinivasan T M, retired Professor IIT Chennai.

Achivements

  • Dr. Karuna Nagarajan has worked in the area of music therapy from 2008 to 2016 and has published research papers in International journals in the area of effect of Indian music on Cardiac Autonomic Function, Anxiety and Cognitive abilities. She was awarded doctoral Degree in 2016.

  • She has successfully taught several batches of an online short-term course on Indian music therapy which has benefited many students

  • An Academician, researcher and a musician, Dr Karuna Nagarajan is into music therapy research and also guiding many PhD students in this domain to come up with evidence based research in Music therapy or Svara Veda.

  • She is also an Expert Working committee member of Yoga textbook for National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE). She has also authored text books for NCTE on Yoga Education for implementation of various Yoga modules for school children relating to Cognitive development and Physical Development and Health which was released by then honorable Human Resource Minister Smt. Smriti Iraniji.

  • The Hindi translation of the NCTE book was subsequently released by honorable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modiji.

  • She was sent to Japan as a Lead Examiner for implementing the Yoga exams for level – 1 and level – 2 at Osaka and Tokyo (Japan) in April 2017 and Jan 2018 which was conducted by Quality Council of India under Ministry of Ayush. She was also sent as a Lead examiner for implementing Yoga exams for level – 2 at Shanghai (China) in Aug 2018 for the Yoga scheme under Yoga Certification Board.

  • She has worked as an Expert committee member for UGC Syllabus for Yoga in Universities.

  • She is also an Expert Working committee member for Development of Yoga Module learning Resources Development for Health Sector Skill Council under Ministry of Ayush.

  • She was an Expert committee member for Curriculum Design for Certificate Program in Yoga (CPY), She has also authored books on Concept of Health, Concept of Mental Health and Concept of Yoga Life style for Certificate Program in Yoga (CPY), IGNOU 2020;

  • Karuna Nagarajan is also an Expert committee member for Curriculum Development in Yoga for Open Basic Education under National School of Open schooling (NIOS), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and has authored Yoga books from class 1 to class 10.

  • She is a Professor for Classical Texts in Yoga at Vivekananda Yoga University, CA, USA.

Our mission is to provide access to quality music therapy services and
educating people of all ages and backgrounds to heal with music . We achieve
this through various programs, events, and partnerships with local healthcare
providers and community organisations.
